Uncom OS is very similar to other operating systems. However, it has its own features and conveniences.

Useful Win Key Functions

Working with Open Applications

Press the Win key — all running applications will be displayed. You can drag application windows between desktops.

System Search

Press the Win key and start typing on the keyboard immediately.

Installing from the App Store

Installation:

Find the application in the Store search. Open the found application's card. Click the "Install" button and wait for the installation to complete. The Store can be minimized but not closed. After installation, the application icon will be available in the applications list.

Removal:

Find the application in the Store search. Open the application's card. Click the "Remove" button and wait for the removal to complete. The Store can be minimized but not closed.

Installing Applications Not from the Store

Installation

Download the application installation package for Linux (in .deb format). Left-click on the downloaded package, the .deb package installer window will open. Click the "Install" button and wait for the process to complete.

Removal

  1. Removal through the App Store. Find the application in the App Store. Open the installed application's card. Click the "Remove" button and wait for the process to complete.
  2. Removal using the deb package installer. If the application installation package (in .deb format) is saved, the application can be removed using the installer. Left-click on the application installation package. The .deb package installer window will open. Click the "Remove" button and wait for the process to complete.

Confirming Important Actions

To confirm important actions, the operating system will request a password. This happens for any action that makes changes to the system (installing applications, changing system settings, etc.).

The user password is set during the operating system installation or when the computer is first turned on (if the OS was pre-installed). If necessary, the password can be changed in the settings. The "reset" password function is not provided for security reasons.

If the password is lost, continuing to use Uncom OS will only be possible after a complete reinstallation.

Archiving

Create an Archive (Compress)

Right-click on a file or folder and select "Compress".

Extract from Archive (Decompress)

Right-click on the archive and select "Extract".

File or Folder Shortcut

Create a Shortcut for a File or Folder

  1. Go to the folder with the desired file
  2. Right-click on the file
  3. Select "Create Shortcut" from the menu
After this, a shortcut with the same name as the selected file will be created. This is the shortcut.
The created shortcut can be moved to the desktop or another folder.

Icons

Add an Application Icon to the Desktop

Right-click on the application icon and select "Add to Desktop".

Replace Any Application Icon

Right-click on the icon and select "Change Application Icon". Then follow the prompts.

Replace an Application or Folder Icon on the Desktop

Right-click on the icon, select "Properties", in the opened window click on the icon image, choose a new image for the icon. Click the "Apply" button.
